An expert panel was held to discuss the recent Lake Fire in Santa Ynez Valley. Panelists discussed Lake Fire impacts on Sedgwick Reserve, the potential research opportunities it presents, and what researchers and the community can learn from this wildfire.

The expert panel included Frank Davis (Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Director of the La Kretz Center, UCSB), Dar Roberts (Distinguished Professor, Department of Geography, UCSB), and Nicole Molinari (Province Ecologist, USDA Forest Service). Two panel members from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, Vince LaRocco (Battalion Chief/ Deputy Fire Marshall),  and Jason Sweet (Captain, Vegetation Management) were unfortunately unable to join due to other commitments. The panel was moderated by Carla D'Antonio (Distinguished Professor and Schuyler Chair, Environmental Studies, UCSB), who is also an expert on fire.
