This was workshop that provided discussion on pertinent topics related to evacuation such as what to do when you only have 10 minutes to evacuate, what to wear, where to go in a last minute evacuation, how to stay calm during an evacuation, current evacuation modeling and how evacuation works on the agency side.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Safe Council in partnership with the local fire agencies, Sheriffs, OEM and the UC Santa Barbara Wildfire Prevention and Policy Lecture Series hosted the Wildfire Evacuation and Survival Workshop on May 18th at Santa Barbara City College’s Business Communication Forum. It addressed questions such as have you ever thought, “Where should I go?” or “What happens if I get trapped?”. This free event was designed to empower community members with the knowledge to make critical decisions during real life wildfire evacuations.
The workshop included discussion on several pertinent topics including what to do when you only have 10 minutes to evacuate, what to wear when evacuating, where to go in a last minute evacuation, how to stay calm during evacuation, current evacuation modeling, and how evacuation works on the agency side? In addition, there were resources on community leader training, community scale communication, Ready SBC alerts, to-go bags, free scanning of important documents, and fire extinguisher training.
